SUSTAINABLE PACKAGE
STANDARD

We have strived to minimize packaging from the product planning stage by following our "3Rs" (reduce, reuse, and recycle) initiative: We reduce packaging requiring a lot of resources and processes. We help reuse the used packaging materials. We endeavor to recycle reusable materials. Moreover, we step up efforts to suggest alternatives for package through sufficient advancement and innovation to surpass the existing technical limits. By doing so, we are committed to lead the comprehensive resource circulation and recycling system.

  • Level. 4

    SUNTAINABLE SYSTEM

It is the final phase of making the Earth zero waste through perfect resource circulation
    and recycling.
Enterprises, consumers, and government agencies are teamed up to take a lead in making the system become practicable, controllable, and capable of giving feedback.

    • We shall apply recycled plastics and glasses to all packaging materials in 2023.
    • We will be dedicated to sending zero waste to landfills and incinerators in 2025 by achieving the complete resource circulation via our package tracking control system.

    ALTERNATIVE DESIGN

We create a culture of "reusing packaging materials" to prevent the used materials from
    being sent to a landfill.
We present sustainable packaging options to consumers in the area of producers.

    • We launched refill pouches to reduce using disposable packaging materials and throwaway containers in 2016.
    • We introduced empty glass containers to help promote recycling in 2019 and empty dispenser bottles in 2020.
    • We opened our refill station, House of AROMATICA and initiated the Empty Bottle Collection campaign under the phrase of “If You Love Nature, [Bring Out The Bottles]" in 2020.
    • With the campaign "Returns and Refills" in which the consumers engage with, we introduced a subscription-type service refilling cosmetic products and recyclable delivery box in 2022.
    2016~2022
  • Level. 2

    SUSTAINABLE MATERIAL

We aim at completely tackling the packaging issue(unsettled assignment) challenging to
practice at this time by leveraging the technology advancement.
We seek alternative materials, technology, and others while thoroughly carrying out practical alternatives even by bearing the inconvenience caused to consumers and producers.

    • We introduced a flip top bottle instead of a pump dispenser bottle difficult to categorize and discharge(for shampoo, body wash, body lotion, etc.) in 2020. For the products problematic to be contained in a pump dispenser, we used a pump dispenser bottle made of a single material in 2020.
    • We introduced 90% PCR glass bottles in 2019, 50% PET plastic containers, 100% PCR PET containers, and 100% PCR PP containers in 2020.
    • We have adpoted paper tapes and paper buffer materials since 2019, introducing a wash-off label in 2020.

*Wash-off label: As a "wash-off adhesive label," it uses adhesion easily soluble in alkaline water and readily removable unlike general adhesive.

  • Level. 1

    ALTERNATIVE MATERIAL

We replace the existing materials with sustainable materials across the entire phases with
the current technology while striving to minimize using the primary container(product container, label) besides secondary packaging(packaging box, other packaging materials) even in the product planning phase.

    • We delete all post-processes making us difficult to sort and discharge waste.
      • 1-1. Except for paper, we have eliminated non-recyclable materials such as coated plastic film (laminated film), aluminum foil multilayered paper, or cardboard sheets and paper bag materials where adhesives are unnecessarily applied since 2014.
      • 1-2. We have not adopted several post-processes including coating or vacuum evaporation for bottles and caps and have excluded the use of composite materials since 2016.
    • We have used paper packaging materials, excluding plastic bags since 2009. We have stopped using shrink films since 2016.
